Kay Flow: Fight Night Breakdown
Despite how many songs an artist may complete, he/she always have particular favs or what most would call their "Baby". This song is of mine because I sat on the idea for years. I've heard other artists in the past do something similar, but... I always had a different perspective in how I would want to have present it. Once Meeko sent me this track, it was a wrap! I wanted to paint a vivid picture of a boxing match symbolizing battle with the music. At the same time to be as creative as possible without dumbimg it down. Due to it's extensive content, I decided to give you a lyrical breakdown. often times reading lyrics helps you understand/enjoy a song even more. I hope this does the trick for those who have never heard or overlooked this special track...
1st verse
Scurry the beat to the corner, vision is blurry
seeing doubles and triples
punchlines in combinations and flurries
excellent breath control that's conditioned to last hand
Unorthodox gift of gab/south paw with the left
followed by right hooks that smash
Pen pad exercise fisting the speed bag
Trying my science of rhyming, breakin ya jaw alignment
Face to the canvas, you crash
Direct chin check spaghetti his legs and make'm wobble slow
Viscious delivery head bobble flow
Instrumentally shifting ya organs with every body blow
Inexhaustable stamina, uppercut your abdominal
Phenomenal specimen, taking your hardest blows like its nothing
and look at me still standing unstoppable
Magical in the ring, my footwork's the smoothest
upper body movement steady bobbing and weaving
He keep swinging at nothing like a ghost
Counter punchlines orderly fashion, landing two for every one that you throw
Close enough to smell ya breath and you still can't hit me
The flow get mo' slippery than wet soap
Lock and load, beautiful blows, protection mode
got'em bouncing on his toes running
kill the confidence in his soul
Punching off of his jabs and closing distance
Catch'em slippin in the corner
Break his defense down with hard spittage
Dope quotes when I force him against the ropes, the outcome is very troublesome
Praying that he's saved by the bell when face swollen like bubble gum
2nd verse
Pummeling emcees, defeat those super egos
forcing every writer to block and crumble him to his knees
Stand strong and maintain balance so I'm prepared
to side step and surprise hooks and counters
Excellent defensive, jabbin beat senseless
Punch bags with paragraphs
Sugar Ray Leonard hand speed with the accurate precision
Parry and deflect any subliminal disses
Pull away, maneuver back in position
using ya chin like it's batting practice when Im swinging for the fences
Long range with the similes
breathe in and out with every punchline thrown
so my lungs don't easily fatigue
Step, drop, cover, and pivot
Keep my knees bent, powerful metaphors finish'em off with body shots to the liver
audience going wild, shout my name glorious
The Ref raise my hand, Second round knockout
Once again, KayFlow is victorious

The Chase
In reading the previous posts from my man Mixtape Meeko, it got me thinking. The trips to guitar center, or the endless digging for music, or just sounds in general. Why do we pursue it, or maybe a better question is why doesn't everyone have the thirst for sonic stimulation in the manner a producer does? It's obvious that the majority of the world loves music, this is evident, so let's separate those who love to hear music from us, who love creating music. Why is it that you can be listening to a song with a friend and point out certain aspects of the song, and he or she responds " i can't hear what you are talking about", or " man, you think to deep about it, i just listen". Why is when we are holding a conversation, and a car drives by with music, or a commercial comes on, instantly one ear bends towards "the sound"? Quick answer, I don't know! But what i do remember is, as a child playing in the living room as my mother cleaned the house, and of course as most of us, the music was on. Now I was not concentrating on the music, just my toys, but years later i can recall aspects of the song to a tee. Your big brother or sister getting ready to go out and party, music playing , and you just hanging around wishing you were old enough to go. Again not really paying attention to the music, but later in life you can find the strings, or the bass-line in the song you only heard for an instant. This i believe is where the chase begins, at least for me.
The endless search for sound, the trips to music stores, the hours in that hot ass record store with no air conditioning. WE are in CONSTANT search, ears up, high alert, security code red, and little sleep at times. Again, the question arises, why? Again i answer I don't know, and really don't care for the answer. All that matters is there are many, many producers in all genres doing the business, working hard, late nights, so when the masses wake up there is something new and exciting to listen to. And as the fellas and ladies blast the music getting ready for a night of hitting the club hard, in the corner, quietly playing, sits the next great beatmaker. My name is 1DonLeo, producer, beatmaker, chaser of the ultimate music. Will I ever catch it? Shoot I hope not, this shit is too much fun!
One Love.

Mailing Records (Media Mail)
Have you ever been out of state/country and came across some serious diggin' spots? The only concern you have is being able to bring the records back with you. If you drove then all is good. All you need to do is fill up the trunk. If you flew, thats another story. You can fit but so many records in your suitcase (if any). Well, there is a solution........
MEDIA MAIL is the solution. 95% of you probably already knww this but a while back, I was in that 5% of people who didn't know. I had boxes of records had 2 packed up ready to ship. I went to the post office and the boxes were like $40-$50 to send. After sending those 2, I wasn't feeling those shipping rates. The next day I take 2 more boxes and the lady asked me what was in them. When I told her it was vinyl records, she told me I could send them as MEDIA MAIL. The boxes only costed like $15 to ship!!!!
I wish I would have known this simple bit of information before sending those first 2 boxes. So for those who DIDN'T know, USE MEDIA MAIL when mailing records.

Living in Guitar Center
Guitar Center is like a second home to a lot of us. Its a place that has an abundance of gear for producers, musicians, DJ's............etc!!!! You have professionals that can answer any questions you have (Well, sometimes. I have had experiences where the Guitar Center rep didn't know what they were talking about). Getting hands on experience with the equipment is the best part about it. The bad part about Guitar Center is LEAVING.

You leave wanting something so bad that you can't get it off your mind and you keep going back to guitar center trying to make up your mind if it would be a worthwhile purchase. Or, it could be something you NEED for your studio and the price tag is too steep for you and you can't sleep until you are able to get it.
Then there is leaving making a BIG purchase. It hurts your pockets a little or a lot. You can't get what you want but you make some small purchases of things you don't need and you know that you shoulda put that money aside to save up for what you want. Overall you are happy and you don't care about nothing else except your new toy(s) but there is that bad feeling cause you know you spent too much. For those who just got it like made and don't fit in these categories, it must be nice.
I don't live near a Guitar Center. That's a gift and a curse because I love to go to Guitar Center! If I stayed near one, I would be in there a lot spending time and/or money. Maybe its a good thing that I'm not near one but whenever I'm in a city or state that has a Guitar Center, I'm there. It seems like there is always something to buy though. Do you live in Guitar Center?

THERE ARE 2 WAYS WE USUALLY LEAVE GUITAR CENTER:
- Wanting or Needing something really bad but you CAN'T get it.
OR
- Purchasing something that puts your pockets on slimfast.

Locksmith "Labrynith" Mixtape
Very talented artist out of the Bay, but don't get him twisted with the typical hyphy sound the Bay is known for. In fact, he'll most likely take that as a diss rather than a compliment. The former Grind Time Battle MC has a ridiculous arsonal of lyrical prowess and subject matter. This is the follow up mixtape to his itunes relased "Embedded" album of last year. Stand out cuts for my are Halaleuja, The Pit, Illuminati, and Little Bunny Rabbit*personal fav*. This joint is sure to have you hitting that rewind button. Carry On!!!
